Jason Somerville in his four-year Poker career has been very consistent in his form on tour thus has registered winnings worth $2.5 million in live tournaments. He h as also earned online cashes worth $1.5 million during this period.
In the early days he had many close encounters without winning anything substantial. His best time came in the 2011 season where he won his first WSOP bracelet. The next year it became more amazing and achieved solid poker wins, but the 25-year old poker player’s success could be attributed more to the time away from the table than on it.
He quipped “the year has been different for me. The first six months were spent m ore on concentrating on my personal life than travelling and playing. “It was necessary because I had to focus on my personal life too so that I find happiness”.
Here you must know that the Long Island, NY resident is pointing towards the blog post in February where he opened up to the rest of the poker community. He was not sure of positive reactions from his peers when they know about his homosexuality leanings, but it came as a surprise when the community members accepted him back without any conditions.
Somerville said, “It was an overwhelming support from the poker community,” and continued excitingly that he did not encounter any negative vibes from the people whatsoever. He said that he was feeling awkward initially to be in the situation but the community treated him as it has always been before he revealed his sexual orientation, if not more than that.
When the reporter asked why he thinks that the community has accepted him, Somerville quoted the poker game and said that it accepts everyone without reservation. He further said that this is related to the poker community consisting of people coming from diverse culture and backgrounds.
